Go and see Fahrenheit 9/11. I won't say anymore because I'm scared the FBI will kill me! ;)

It's really powerful when they show the dead bodies and things. It's no worse than what we see on the news or in the papers, but when it's on TV you don't have to watch. In the cinema you do (although someone in front of me had to keep leaving, I felt like joining them!)

Also you have to face the woman whose son died rather than ignore it.

When I have kids and they ask me what happened after September 11th and during the way, etc, I'll just let them watch this.

Yes the footage in Iraq was disturbing to say the least. I think in a way it was good that they showed it, we need to know what's going on over there.
I found it difficult to watch though. Seeing that poor lady whose son died was very sad.

Have you seen Michael Moore's other film, Bowling for Columbine.

Some of it. I'm getting it from Amazon. Only £6.99!

Emmykins - singlehandedly insuring a long and prosperous future for the psychiatric industry ;) .

Curious, what did they show in Iraq and say about it that I wouldn't have seen on the news?

I wasn't too impressed with Bowling for Columbine, I actually felt quite sorry for poor Charlton Heston being portrayed as rather right wing and the NRA as having KKK connections (when it is anything but...).

Michael Moore really pisses me off, some of what he puts in the documentary is spliced from different events, he takes quotes out of context to make them look bad, in fact, I'd go as far to say that it is nearly as bad as people taking 'an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth' out of context and flipping it's meaning around (unless they're not taking it from the new testament, that is...).

I meant the dead bodies. We ALL saw dead bodies on the news, didn't we. I didn't say we saw it ALL on the news, did I?

I think he deserved it. If he's going to mouth off about how guns are so great when children are being killed, why shouldn't he be confronted. Same thing with Bush, since he seems to think war is so 'cool'.

And you just didn't do that with me?

Stuff they show on the news is generally toned down, stuff in the film was not.
Also they showed exactly what the American marines think of the Iraqi's (i.e not much)

Actually I admire Michael Moore for having the guts to stick to his principles.

I think some people can't face that the government lied quite so much and that someone running a country could have so many lights off upstairs.

However, whatever Michael Moore says he can back up, so...

Oh, he most definately should be confronted, about his beliefs over whether people can be responsible with guns and whether they're needed or not, not irrelevent bullshit. Citing the NRA as being racist was wrong and had absolutely no backing. Why would Moore want to do this in the first place though, when the issue at hand is over gun laws, and why parts of america are so violent, the only reason for bringing up things that a) aren't true and b) aren't relevent, is for sensationalism.

I'm sorry, but no other reported does this. I don't need some arrogant git to tell me Bush is an idiot, its all over the news, I read the Guardian, I watch channel four and bbc24 news, I watch documentaries by people like that Langhan bloke, I look vigurously through the net for both sides of the story, I disagree with the war on Iraq, just about everything with it, except for Saddam being put out of power (even though he had little power in the first place).

What annoys me even more is he came over here to tell us poor british folk who obviously can't think for ourselves that Blair is also a dipstick, and I saw a couple of interviews where he really was acting like that, like we needed our eyes opened just like the thickos he's trying to target with his documentaries. Who does he think he is? Seriously, you'd have to be blind to not see the anti-blair feelings this country has, I'd go as far to say that the majority of people in this country (not the vast majority, mind) know fully well that, a) blair lied, b) he's an idiot and c) the war was wrong and unjustified.

If Moore really wants to portray Iraq properly, he should have the balls to go out there like most reporters who can walk do, instead of basing a whole documentary around a book which was recently proved to be almost completely wrong on all of it's fronts (although I realise it wasn't proved to be wrong at the time the documentary had been made).

But thats part of the point, Moore simply can't think for himself, he listens to one source and believes it. Take Bowling for Columbine for example, he was told that guns were completely legal in Canada, the idiot believed it, not only that, but it then cut to him buying guns and ammunition, without us being told that it was back in america, I assumed it was because I knew you simply can't do that in canada, but there are people out there who didn't. I don't know whether he's guilty of having no brain or what, I just hate the ******.

Also, one more thing, what is the difference between Moore's propoganda and the whitehouse's? Mhmm.

p.s. this isn't directed at you, emmy.

Dear emmykins, I weren't being serious, I'm sorry you took it the wrong way. I admire you for having the intelligence to get your kids to see the world as it is from an early age.
