EXLCUSIVE: Corrie shock as Rita goes to sex party
CORONATION Street fans are in for a shock - when staid Rita Sullivan goes to a swingers' sex party.
The shop boss and employee Norris Cole innocently attend a bash thrown by Rita's old friend Rula Romanoff, played by ex-Bond girl Honor Blackman.
But Rita (Barbara Knox) is stunned when she wakes up at the country house to find Rula's husband in bed with her.
She storms to Rula's bedroom - where her old mate is seducing timid Norris (Malcolm Hebden) and thinks Rita has come to join in the fun.
But furious Rita barks: "Get dressed, Norris - we're leaving now!" Corrie bosses believe viewers will find the farcical scenes hilarious. An insider said yesterday: "Nobody could believe it when the scripts arrived, but they're absolutely brilliant
"This episode will be belly laughs all the way."
Kabin boss Rita and Norris join Honor, husband Bernie - played by comic Duggie Brown - and two other couples for what they imagine will be an ordinary dinner party.
And she is baffled when Bernie tells her: "Marriage must get very dull, just having the same old meat and two veg every day."
Once Rita and Norris go to their separate bedrooms, the other couples get down to business.
The show insider added: "It's not long before the doors start opening and different people head off to different rooms.
"Norris peeps his head around his door to see what the noises are and plucks up courage to put his ear against Rula's door.
"She opens it and he falls in, flat on the floor.
"Rula thinks he's come for just one thing.
"She starts unfastening his pyjamas and tells him, 'I like a man who takes the initiative. Would you prefer to play the menial role or do you want to do it in the executive position?'
"Norris can't believe his luck and lies back and starts to think of England." Bernie, meanwhile, nips into Rita's room, where he undresses and climbs into bed next to her as she sleeps.
When she realises what is going on she batters him with a pillow and chucks him out.
Worse comes when she marches to Rula's room for an explanation. Her friend thinks Rita wants a threesome and purrs: "Come in Rita, two's company but three's perfection."
Rita retorts: "What consenting adults do behind closed doors is up to them, but you should have told me what this party was all about."
She then shouts: "Get dressed, Norris, and be quick about it. We're leaving now!"
Filming of the scenes - among five episodes Honor, 77, is signed up for - begins this week.
