Oscar host Chris Rock has been slammed by Christian groups, who are calling for viewers to boycott the TV broadcast of next Sunday's Academy Awards.

Organisations including Concerned Women for America (CWA) are outraged comedian Rock, who peppers his stage act with swearing, is presenting the global event.

However, US TV network ABC are promising to implement a five-second "decency delay" and have waived concerns about Rock's conduct.

Robert Knight, the CWA's Culture and Family Institute director, says: "Hollywood seems intent on spreading vulgarity far and wide, so the F-word spewing from Rock might actually be the perfect Tinseltown ambassador." breakingnews

Rock defends Oscar quips

Upcoming Oscars host Chris Rock is standing by controversial remarks he made calling the award ceremony a "fashion show" which holds no interest for black men unless they are gay.

The Head of State funnyman sparked a storm of controversy after his anti-Academy Awards tirade was published in US magazine Entertainment Weekly, but he remained unrepentant during an appearance on American chat show The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

The 40-year-old joked: "I did not say that. I said only gay people watch the Tonys!"

Before continuing more seriously: "I really don't know any straight men who aren't in show business that have ever watched the Oscars.

"What straight black man sits there and watches the Oscars? The awards don't really affect anybody's lives in the crowd."breakingsnews

Oscars host Chris Rock infuriated 2004 winner Sean Penn at Sunday night's Academy Awards, when he doubted the acting ability of Penn's latest co-star Jude Law.

The comedian placed Law as a 'second choice' for casting agents after Tom Cruise in between award presentations at the ceremony in Hollywood's Kodak Theater.

Rock said: "You want Tom Cruise and all you can get is Jude Law? Wait.

“You want Russell Crowe and all you can get is Colin Farrell? Wait.

“Alexander is not Gladiator.

"You want Denzel (Washington) and all you can get is me? Wait. Denzel's a fine actor. He would have never made Pootie Tang."

When Penn arrived on stage to present the Best Actress trophy to Hilary Swank, he took time to defend Law, his co-star in All The King’s Men, which is currently filming in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Penn says: "Jude is one of our finest actors. What Jude and all other talented actors know is that for every great, talented actor, there are five actresses who are nothing short of magic."

Backstage, Rock said he had spoken to Penn about their disagreement.

He explains: "Sean said because he's working with Jude on a movie right now he felt the need to... I don't know. It's kind of funny." breakingnews

Prince's surprise gig for exclusive celebs

Prince performed a surprise set at a post-Oscars party before an exclusive crowd.

Christina Aguilera and fiance Jordan Bratman were among the few on the very select guest list.

Only 50 celebrities were able to get past the tight security at the bash held at Prince's villa on LA's Mulholland Drive.

An eyewitness told the New York Post the Purple One and his full band played in his living room until the crack of dawn.

"It was very select, very intimate and hands down the best."

Elsewhere in Hollywood, Sir Elton John and the Scissor Sisters entertained celebrities at Elton's annual Aids Foundation fund-raising post-Academy Award party.

Elton and the Scissor Sisters performed a duet on Elton's The Bitch Is Back before a crowd which included Elizabeth Taylor, Nicolette Sheridan, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson and Aguilera again.

According to the paper Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears split his pants during his energetic performanceAnanova

Jude 'sacks agent after Rock's Oscar joke'

Jude Law has reportedly sacked his Hollywood agent in the wake of a jibe by Oscar host Chris Rock at this year's ceremony.

The 32-year-old Alfie star fired his agent at CAA and hired a new agent, Patrick Whitesell at rival company Endeavor, following Rock's comment that Law was in every single movie this year.

The US comic also chided Law for being less than a "real" movie star.

"CAA made Jude and he can't take a joke," an insider told the New York Post.

But, sources close to Law deny his move to Endeavor was anything to do with Rock's comments saying he has been quietly planning the switch for the past two weeks.

Law appeared in several movies last year including Alfie, I Heart Huckabees, Closer, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and a supporting role as Errol Flynn in The Aviator.Ananova
