He dishes out sex advice to youngsters
R&B star Lemar is dishing out sex advice to his young fans.
The singer, who plays Live+Loud in Glasgow next month, has even included a song on his new album that tells kids it's okay to say no.
The Fame Academy runner-up said he felt he should use tracks on Time To Grow to help youngsters make the right choices in life.
He said: 'On my new album, I felt that I could make some important statements, deal with real issues that are affecting people.
'I am in a privileged position. I have a voice and can make my opinions known if I need to.'
Lemar was brought up strictly by his Nigerian parents, who taught him that an education was all-important.
But he still looks back on his school years as the best of his life and is keen his young fans aren't led astray.
'I think there are a lot of negative messages in music for young people today,' said the singer.
'On Don't Give It Up, I am saying that it's okay to say no to sex. There is a lot of pressure to grow up too quickly.
'It is not just about under-age sex. Sometimes teens think their friends are doing it, so they have to as well. They are too afraid to ask for advice.'
While rival pop acts have been hogging the tabloid headlines, Lemar has worked at making himself heard on the international music scene.
He is one of the main attractions at Live+Loud when it hits Hampden Park on June 26, and he is loving his success.
He said: 'It is powerful to be in this position.
'Now I've headlined my own national tour, I'm enjoying major exposure throughout Europe and the world, and getting requests to work with the biggest names in the business.'
Despite his success, he has managed to keep his own love life strictly private.
He has had the same girlfriend for 10 years - teen sweetheart Charmaine Powell, who has given him the stability to focus on his music.
He said: 'The lady in my life likes to stay out of the limelight.
'It is difficult being away from her on tour, and being away from family and friends.
'It is one of the downsides to fame,- but you just have to learn to deal with it.'
Lemar will join McFly, Rooster, Rachel Stevens and KT Tunstall at Live+Loud with One Scotland
