The BBC is to slash the total amount it spends on more than 600 top bosses by 25 per cent over the next three and-a-half years.
The BBC Trust has agreed to plans which will affect 634 senior managers and nine members of the executive board, including director general Mark Thompson.
The plans will involve cutting the total senior management numbers by 18 per cent in the next three-and-a-half years - a reduction of 114 out of 634.
And the pay of executive board directors will also be frozen for a further three years.
