Total Wipeout: Celebrity Special
BBC1,2/2 Saturday 02 January 7:15pm - 8:15pm A bunch of people who only scraped through their celebrity status entrance exam take turns on the notorious Argentinian obstacle course in this second special. One contestant you would be able to pick out of a line-up is comedian Joe Pasquale, who drops dignity points when his shorts slip to reveal too much of what lies beneath. Wag model Danielle Lloyd hand-flaps her way through, while an unexpectedly ripped Dominic Littlewood (the consumer rights champion) attacks the course like a bull terrier chasing a T-bone. The rest limp, splat and grunt their way to the podium, and their best muck-ups are replayed in glorious slow motion. Richard Hammond slaps sarcastic commentary over the top, while Amanda Byram is on face-to-face mockery detail. As it turns out, Total Wipeout is even more fun when the people getting punched by hydraulic fists and attempting doomed giant-red-ball vaults are ones we (sort of) recognise.
