One Born Every Minute Channel 4, 10 January 9:00pm - 10:00pm 1/12, series 2
No two births are the same as we see, and hear, clearly here. Stephanie's husband Paul knows she's a wimp when it comes to pain but he - and staff at Southampton's Princess Anne Maternity Hospital - were probably unprepared for her relentless, high-decibel screaming during labour. Meanwhile Janet, 18, who's two weeks over term and is being induced, barely speaks above a whisper throughout. "It hurts," she murmurs at one point. Their birthing experiences are captured on film in the second run of this observational series, which also features the delightfully cheery midwives Kay and Barbara. They're old-school, but you'd definitely want them at your bedside when push comes to pull.
