The One Show BBC1, Friday 18th May 7pm - 8pm The arrival of the Olympic torch in the UK is shrouded in secrecy, like a marathon runner in a foil cape, but with a golden aircraft, a cauldron and live coverage from a specially built studio at the end of a runway, it’s fair to expect a sense of occasion. The torch will have travelled across Greece to the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens for presentation to the London delegation — so if anything goes wrong, it’s now officially our fault. Hosts Chris Evans and Alex Jones will present from the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose in Cornwall, with a simulcast with the BBC News channel from 7.30pm for the relay ceremony.
Chris Evans and Alex Jones present an outside broadcast from Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose in Cornwall as the Olympic flame arrives from Athens, accompanied by Sebastian Coe and other special guests. Lucy Siegle reports from the control tower as the flame arrives, while the audience features former Olympians and local torchbearers.
