Turner Prize 2012
Channel 4, Monday, 3rd Dec 7:30pm - 8pm
Repeat: Today, 8:30pm Channel 4 +1Britain’s big contemporary art award might as well be called the Annual Apples and Oranges Prize. How should the judges choose between meticulous pencil drawings, documentary videos and a deliberately ragged mime show? But somehow they’ll have to, and tonight Jude Law announces who has won the £25,000 cheque.
Before that, a chance to sample the nominees: Paul Noble’s landscapes are engrossing and sweet; Spartacus Chetwynd’s prance-y performance-art pieces have annoyed and amused in equal measure; then take your pick from video works by Luke Fowler and Elizabeth Price about, respectively, psychiatrist RD Laing and a fire in a Manchester Woolworths.
