EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2013: SEMI-FINAL ONE
BBC3: Tuesday 14th May 8pm - 10pm

1/3. Radio 1's Scott Mills and Scissor Sisters' Ana Matronic present this year's first semi-final live from Sweden's Malmo Arena, where the acts include Ireland's Ryan Dolan. Members of the public have the opportunity to vote for who they want to see in Saturday's Grand Final, and UK representative Bonnie Tyler chats about her hopes for the 57th edition of the musical competition.

How to Win Eurovision
BBC3: Wed 15th May 8pm - 10pm
Repeat: BBC3, Fri 17 May 12:30am
Repeat: BBC3 Sun 19 May 7pm

To wet the appetite before the chintzy charabanc chugs into town (Malmo, Sweden this year), Greg James and Russell Kane try to nail the winning formula. Do you dress like Klingons and gargle with gravel (Lordi, 2006)? Do you write a song in praise of a lost Teletubby (Diggy Loo, Diggi Ley, 1984)? Or do you rip off your skirts like they were on fire (Bucks Fizz, 1981). Well, all those things have swung the vote. Though not, it has to be said, at the same time... Yet.

There’s also a headlong plunge into the Eurovision Hall of Shame. Had the Austrian pole-dancing/rap fiasco Woki mit deim Popo made last year’s final, we’d have had a clear winner.

Greg James and Russell Kane investigate the perceived attributes required to become a Eurovision Song Contest winner, including a strong gimmick, a dubious choice of costume and questionable singing talent. The presenters also celebrate past successes at the annual event, featuring interviews with Graham Norton, Scott Mills, Daz Sampson and former Bucks Fizz members Jay Aston, Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan.

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2013: SEMI-FINAL TWO
BBC3: Thur 16th May 8pm - 10pm

Scott Mills and Ana Matronic present the second live semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden as the remaining acts perform for a place in the Grand Final. Plus, there is a behind-the-scenes look at how the hopefuls have prepared for this year's competition, including Bonnie Tyler, who is representing the UK.

AT 61, Bonnie Tyler has just hired her very first vocal coach. He’s given her a set of weird exercises – a series of wailing, groaning and panting sounds. www.dailystar.co.uk

How wonderful, wonderful for Copenhagen: Bookies make Denmark's Emmelie De Forest the first ever odds-on Eurovision contestant

Norway, Ukraine and Azerbaijan are not trailing too far behind, with odds of 7/1, 9/1 and 12/1 respectively

Attendees of the UK's Eurovision party at
the British Embassy in Copenhagen said the
Ambassador's DVD shelves contained nothing
but Scandi noir and Borgen box sets.
------------------------------------------

Tonight, tonight
What to look for in SF2?

* Armenia - written by Tony Iomma.
Sadly that's not a recommendation.

* Azerbaijan - great staging.
And Farid's latest fitness video
is pretty special.

* Bulgaria - remember those mental
drummers who came 5th in 2007?
They're back. Sadly, again, not
a recommendation.

* Greece - yay! party ska with a
nice chorus "Alcohol is Free".

* Hungary - Portland-esque fey pop

* Israel - if the celeb weeklies
were commenting, this singer would
definitely be flaunting her curves.

* Malta - Jason Mraz wannabe.
Whether that's good or hellish is
up to you. (The latter, we assume.)

* Norway - very cool Europop. We like.

* Romania - VOTE CEZAR. Oddest entry.

BETTING: Norway is short odds to win,
but Azerbaijan could be a good bet,
they usually score well:

FYI 1: We'll update you on the Final
when the running order is announced.

FYI 2: Eurovision based raffle to raise
money for leukaemia:
