Rod Stewart's Christmas

ITV1, UTV Sun 9th Dec 9:40pm - 10:55pm

Repeat: ITV1 +1, UTV1 +1 Today 10:40pm

Whether this will be as emotional for Rod as watching his beloved Celtic beat Barcelona in the Champions League remains to be seen. However, even if he holds back the tears, you can guarantee more than a sprinkling of Scottishness and schmaltz over this concert recorded on a chilly November night at Stirling Castle. Coinciding with the release of Rod’s first Christmas album, the gig features him performing a big band version of Let It Snow with Kylie Minogue and White Christmas with Michael Bublé before belting out a heartfelt Auld Lang Syne.

The rock star showcases his new album Merry Christmas, Baby, performing a selection of his favourite festive songs in the surroundings of Stirling Castle. The show includes collaborations with Michael Buble and Kylie Minogue, and award-winning violinist Nicola Benedetti takes to the stage. Rod also talks about his life at home, revealing why Christmas is such a special time for him and his family.
