Let's Dance for Comic Relief

BBC1, Saturday 16th, 6:50pm - 8:10pm

Repeat: BBC3 Sun 17 Feb 7pm

Katy Brand being bootylicious as Beyoncé; Noel Fielding mincing theatrically as Kate Bush; Adrian Edmondson as a dying swan; and Robert Webb looking strangely attractive in his leotard doing Flashdance. The past four years have given us some magnificent moments. So fingers and toes crossed that this year’s danceathon will be equally entertaining.

Limbering up for three weeks of heats is a typically diverse range of celebrity hoofers including, tonight, comic Tim Vine and boxer Ricky Hatton, but we’ll also see impressionist Jon Culshaw and — you may need a cushion to hide behind before watching this pairing — Rosemary Shrager and Kim Woodburn. It’s hard to predict who’ll impress and who’ll depress, but being a male comedian in woman’s clothing often helps.

Among those on the rotating panel (a bit like The Voice: UK then..?) are Bake Off’s Mel Giedroyc and actor Bradley Walsh.

1/4. New series. Alex Jones and Steve Jones host the charity competition in which famous faces re-create classic dances of stage and screen, hoping to make it through to the final in three weeks' time and follow in the fancy footsteps of last year's winner Rowland Rivron, who dazzled audiences with his routine to Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice. Comedian Tim Vine, ex-EastEnder Natalie Cassidy and boxing star Ricky Hatton are among the first celebrity toe-tappers hoping to impress the viewers and the judging panel - Mel Giedroyc, Bradley Walsh and Tameka Empson - in a bid to get through to the final. There are also musical performances by Kimberley Walsh and the Script, and the chance to see the video for One Direction's Comic Relief single.

Cotton wins BBC charity dance show

Antony Cotton has stormed to victory in the final of Let's Dance For Comic Relief with a display of jazz hands and tap dancing.

The star - known for his role as Sean Tully in Coronation Street - said he was "speechless" after he was announced as the winner of the BBC charity dance contest.

Cotton brought a touch of old-fashioned showbusiness to proceedings with a dance to Anything Goes set in an old people's home.

Judge Greg Davies described it as "incredible" and "amazing", while Jo Brand remarked: "I thought it was brilliant and it made me desperate to be in an old people's home."
