Do any of you know anything about Mr Hoogstraten?
He is a hero of Defence lAwyer Giovanni di Stefano: Stefano, also admires Mussolini among others He is the first subject of four documentaries about wealthy businessmen on BBC2 at 9-50pm tonight.

The only one I can track down is:

Notorious property baron Nicholas van Hoogstraten, freed on appeal from a 10-year sentence for manslaughter.

Mr van Hoogstraten, once famously described by a judge as an "emissary of Beelzebub", was released from high security Belmarsh in Woolwich, south-east London, after serving 12 months of his sentence for the manslaughter of rival landlord Mohammed Raja when his conviction was overturned following a complex legal battle.

From what I can gather from the London papers he was not a very nice man, but that is just their opinion. He may be a perfectly amicable cat/dog lover for all I know.

Well you have to hand it to Giovanni..if I was the type who would ever need a lawyer to get me off a murder/fraud charge. Then he would be the first person I would call.
He came across as sleazy as his clients tho.

di stephano is very famous in scotland for his involvement with dundee football club. he claimed he had £26m to invest in the club, but never came up with a penny, the club are now in administration. he is regarded as someone who is full of s**t

They mentioned his interest in Dundee on last nights show.
He tries to have a finger in too many pies, one day someone will cut the lot of them of if he keeps on with his shaddy wheeling and Dealing.
