According to ananova, last nights episode of Big Brother was certainly a hit with viewers. Unofficial figures show 5.8million people tuned into last night's show, over 2 million more than have watched the opening programmes of the last two series.

Big Brother also gave E4 its highest ever rating with 1.3million tuning in to watch the housemates once the Channel 4 coverage had ended.

The 9pm episode was the most watched show on Channel 4 so far this year.
