CHANNEL 4 - the publicly-owned, advert-funded UK broadcaster - has posted a 4.9 per cent rise in 2005 pre-tax profits of £66.8 million, up from £63.7m.

The rise is driven by increased ad and sponsorship revenues from shows like "Big Brother".
