Big Brother Could Return — Big Bonus or Big Mistake?

Channel 5 boss Richard Desmond is reportedly in talks with Endemol again to bring Big Brother back to our TV screens, following failed negotiations last September. It is thought a series of Celebrity Big Brother would air this year, with the usual show returning in 2012. Matthew Wright apparently added fuel to the rumours by saying it was "a done deal" during his Five show Wright Stuff yesterday. Davina McCall has allegedly given her support, but has another presenter in mind, saying: "Emma [Willis] loves the programme and is a great presenter. Any channel that picks up BB would be a very lucky channel. But I think I've said goodbye." What do you think: would a Big Brother return be a big bonus or a big mistake?

Channel 5 Flogs The Big Brother Dead Horse

Once you boil it down, scrape away the gloss and remove the publicity and hype, Big Brother is nothing more than a glamorised version of prison. For a set period of time individuals are locked in to a room that feels like the size of a cupboard and are left to their own devices to entertain themselves before boredom kicks in.

Somehow, we don’t think collaborating prisoners with people on a reality show would work.
People who commit murder and other grisly acts are cast in to a secure unit where they can’t bother anyone ever again.

Strangely, there are some individuals that want to have this happen to them, all in the name of entertainment. Who can forget the tasteful moment of Kinga shoving a wine bottle up herself? John Logie Baird will have been glad his invention brought that image to millions of viewers. Despite Channel 4 letting go of their sinister summer show, Channel 5 are looking to give it a quick resurrection. Presumably so they can broadcast at least one show where they get over half a million viewers.

Vanessa Feltz backs Josie Gibson as new BB presenter

Vanessa Feltz has admitted that she would like to see former Big Brother winner Josie Gibson, fronting a new series of the reality TV show.

The portly TV presenter has just launched her own chat show on Five, a channel which is said to be close to agreeing a deal with Endemol to air BB this summer.

When asked if she would like to step into Davina McCall’s shoes and present the TV comeback of the year, the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant told Now:

Emma Willis should take over Big Brother

Davina McCall has given her backing to Emma Willis as the new host of Big Brother, if it does air on Five.

 Vanessa Feltz dreams of Big Brother hosting role

The 148-year-old presenter - who has appeared on both 'Celebrity Big Brother' and 'Ultimate Big Brother' - would be delighted to be asked to front the show if rumours it is to return are true, but thinks bosses would prefer a younger former contestant such as 'Big Brother 11' winner Josie Gibson.
