IT is official: watching Big Brother is bad for you.

Psychologists testing viewers who tuned in to the British show for just six hours found alarming side effects in their mental health, including increased levels of anxiety, depression and hostility.
Yet when the same guinea pigs were asked to watch daytime TV as an experimental control, they reported virtually no ill effects.

Glasgow Caledonian University researchers specialising in television-related research, were commissioned to carry out the study by London's Mail on Sunday newspaper.

The subjects watched Big Brother for two hours a day for three days.

The study was conducted on live feed, so I guess it is understandable?

They said they felt less motivated, less happy and less energetic afterwards, and levels of boredom and frustration were also higher.

"In fact, the experience of being asked to watch Big Brother was so awful for some of them that they refused to watch the show, forcing the researchers to drop some data from the results."

The five things that annoy programme watchers are: monotonous activities, stupid comments, sleazy antics, ridiculous games and frustrating cuts.

They could have asked some of US to help them. I wonder how the results would have differed.

My husband put an article saying this in front of me the other day with a smirk on his face. So I put some exam results of an exam we both took in front of his face and he stopped smiling and looked a bit sheepish. ::lol::
