THE Germans have got the right idea about Big Brother.
In their version of the gameshow, the contestants have to sign up for life. Each week, one housemate is voted out and someone else takes their place.
So if the public really likes you, you could be in there 'til the day you die. Presumably, this also works if they really can't stand you and just want to keep you off the streets and out of the VIP room at celebrity parties.
Most of these clips from the world's most shocking and violent programmes are being shown here for the first time on British TV. They reveal just how far different nations are prepared to go to entertain.
If you thought the sight of Jade Goody's kebab was bad for your health, what about the Mexican gameshow that nearly gives contestants a heart attack?
But the cruellest nation has to be Japan, who, just for a joke, locked a comedian in a cell with no food and then stole all his clothes... He was there for 15 months.
