Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles and reality television show Big Brother undermine sensible drinking messages, a leading alcohol industry figure said.
David Poley, chief executive of the Portman Group, which represents drinks companies, claimed sections of the media sometimes encourage drunkenness.
"We've just seen, about a week ago, Chris Moyles on Radio 1 talking again about how he drinks five pints a day," said Mr Poley, speaking today (Friday) on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"In terms of reality programmes, you have programmes like Big Brother, where they seem to ply the contestants with alcohol in order to spice up the subsequent entertainment.
