It has brought us eight summers of rows, racist rants, public nudity and obsessively watching people we really shouldn't care about lying around in bikinis.
It's also been blamed for (variously) hastening the end of Western civilisation as we know it, dumbing down the minds of an impressionable generation and spawning the Z-list celebrity culture that dominates much of our media.
But could the viewing public now, finally, be ready to evict Big Brother from our TV screens?
