Would You Vote for Big Brother: The Musical???For those who’ve been counting, we’ve already had nine seasons of Big Brother and six series of Celebrity Big Brother in the UK, with no apparent end in sight to the screen incarnations of the reality TV programme that’s proved a primetime hit in more than 70 countries. And, if that weren’t enough, there could be a major musical in the offing too.
In an interview with the Daily Star newspaper, former Big Brother contestant Stuart Hosking revealed that he’d already approached Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group about the idea. "I have always thought there is scope to make Big Brother: The Musical," said Hosking. "After all, they turned Jerry Springer into an opera. So why not Big Brother? I really think it can work.”
The format, he said, would emulate the TV show’s public voting. "It would be very interactive, and the audience would get involved in the action just like they do on the show. There was a recent call to get younger people into West End theatres, and this is exactly the kind of thing that would get bums on seats." In case you’ve forgotten, by the way, Hosking appeared in Big Brother 2 back in 2001.
