Endemol UK has been asked to pay £2,000 per week during filming for a police officer to be stationed near the Big Brother house during future productions, to stop youths throwing bottles and eggs into the garden. While youths outside the house are to be kept in check by the police, residents have demanded that the TV firm stops contestants inside from becoming too rowdy late at night. Large audiences are only to be allowed outside the house on 18 evenings over the next year. During this summer's production, youths in Maxwell Park threw so many bottles and eggs into the house, Endemol was forced to put a wire mesh over the garden, to stop contestants being injured.
