Okay given that we've got Halloween in the next couple of days, thought I'd start things off by pooling our ghost stories.

Now the one I have might be something completely innocent and a massive coincidence but it spooked the life out of me at the time to the extent that I ran out of the house in fear.

It was in about 1986 during the school holidays, and I was all alone in the house one dinnertime. BBC were showing at midday repeats of Dallas and with having nothing better to do with my life at the time, it became regular dinnertime viewing.

Now I was sat there watching it one day, and all of a sudden the TV just switched itself over to Channel 4. This was back in the days when Channel 4 didn't kick in till Countdown came on at 4:30 so it was just the test card. Now this in itself might not have been too unusual apart from the fact that TV was not a remote control TV. It could only be turned over manually by walking up to it and pressing the buttons.

Now of course I got up and switched it back to Dallas. Only for the same thing to happen again within a second or two, and the whole thing repeated itself three or four times. Now after about the fourth or fifth time it happened, for some unknown reason, I decided to shout out to "stop turning the TV over". Having changed it back to Dallas, it stayed on Dallas for about 3 minutes until it switched it back over to C4 again.

This time, I shouted out words to the effect of "stop turning it over, you can switch it on to this when Dallas is finished", turned the TV back to BBC1 and watched Dallas in peace, completely uninterrupted.

Now as Dallas finished (about 40 minutes since the last switch over), I rather bizarrely said "right you can turn it over now" and immediately the TV switched back to C4. I was petrified and did a runner out of the house, so scared was I.

The TV had never done anything like that before or after. There may be some sort of technical reason for it doing what it did but when I went on about it being able to switch over now and then doing so left me shitting it. Let it be said, I've never believed in Ghosts but it properly freaked me out.

I just have to say something, even though I didn't read your post at all  I'm so tempted, but as it is that I'm alone in the house untill tomorrow, I won't. If I read that, I won't be able to sleep at all, I'll be too scared... I'm such a baby. But I love a good ghost story, so I'll read it later :D
