Thanks Molly - Krav Maga has been quite popular last few years over here because I live in an area where are military forces and of course some police officers likes to train it as well. They teach civilians other techniques than professional military or police persons. We are living in a world where criminals have illegal guns and weapons, so I believe that it's somehow quite effective these days. They also search trainers backgrounds and you can't train it if you're in a trouble with law, crimes or addicted to something chemicals. I know few guys that are training it and they have of course advertised it in a positive way to me as well.
I have trained Finnish Jiu-Jitsu style that's called Hokytoryo. It's very practical and effective art. I agree that with you. Same sport-association is over here is offering also Kick-Boxing, that I'm not interested in.
And I'm not at all interested in Karate, eventhought I like to watch their Kata-performances - that are absolutely awesome! There're also Brazilian-style Jiu-Jitsu trainings in my area.
There's something that makes me not to feel comfortable with Aikido - I like basics of it and it's round movements - but their attitude (they seem to think that they are top intellectuals of the world) towards others makes me feel annoyed. Many colleagues of mine in Finland knows the basics of the 24-style (yang-style) Taiji. I have learnt 42-style taiji movements and I love it's slow movements that are in their own way pretty effective if they are made fast - and you're making movements with a partner. Taiji is also like meditating with movements and it's good to any age-groups with their balance and of course physically. But in my area there're only possible to train that 24-style of Taiji.
That's why I haven't yet made a decision which one I'd choose. Because I've missed dojo last , almost, ten years and now I feel that's time to start to train again, because it has had really strong part of my life before I became a mother. And as an indicator - I've seen my ex-date at work recently so often that it has made me think going back to train - he is still training and teaching his art.
But what I didn't do today: I wasn't at work today!
