Got a Goodmans MP3 player for Xmas from Argos, bit cheap and nasty ish one and it's proven to be a shocker. Random mode doesn't work well as it'll start every other song near enough and skip to the next after about 5 seconds and now for some bizarre reason it's frozen and won't turn off.

It's going back tomorrow and I'm getting another one but I'm going to be limited to Argos as thats where I got it from. Have found this one I like and it's been knocked down to £150. For that is it value for money?

This one--------> [url=http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5131888/Trail/C$cip=28956.Sound+and+vision>C$cip=29040.MP3+players>C$cip=29042.MP3+players+and+digital+jukeboxes.htm]HERE

OR

Are there any that you can recommend that has decent battery life (More 12 hours playback) and bigger than 2GB?

Fair play, thanks for that. I've got a personal CD player as well which is absolutely fantastic but I listen to that much music, I needed something that could store more.

It would probably be wise if I could keep all the music I listen to in the one place too Morrissey so I see exactly where you're coming from. Just a bit resistant to change...

The one I've been looking at This one
Don't know about the quality but storage wise you shouldn't run out and at £89.99 it looks good value.

Well, I love my mini iPod, 6GB and the battery lasts for ages-getting on for 24 hrs, I'd say.

I do have a question, tho, that I'm sure someone on here can answer. There's a CD that I'm after that costs an extortionate amount of money (£47.99!!!) but there is a DVD CD of the same recording which is £14.99. As I really only listen to music on my iPod, does anyone know whether I could just get the DVD version and import it onto my laptop and then onto iTunes and onto my iPod as audio tracks? It may be that the iPod mini doesn't have the right software for this. Any ideas? Thank you!

Save up Mozzer and get an iPod, there is really no other player that compares.

Remember how stupid I am? What's p2p? :D

It's not on the iTunes site, so I can't download it from there. The only DVD player I have is on my iBook.

P2P is Peer to Peer transfer using programs like Torrent or Kazaa etc.
With DVD format there usually is encryption. Almost all DVD Video disks with be encrypted but not sure about DVD Audio.
To get a copy is a format you can work with will first require a decryption program like DVDDecryptor.
Next question is is there a stereo track ? You'll need another program to extract the sound track.
You could have a look Here as there are loads of tools available. Some of the programs will be able to down mix the AC3 audio track to stereo if one doesn't exist in Stereo.
I know it can be done though I've never tried.

Thanks Larry, that was great of you to get me that info, but having looked at it, I think it's going to be too much bother and probably beyond my brain to do this. I'll have to start saving for the CD instead! :D

Just found this full explanation on how to rip the audio Here

And Here
And software Here

Sounds like some programs make it very easy while others don't do the full job and require other programs to do each stage.

Before you start saving it's worth having a read of the two guides as it could save you quite a bit. I think the second guide going by the title might well the the easier one to follow.
