Hello,

I have just purchased a Phillips DVP3055V DVD/VCR Player which has PDC (Programme Delivery Control). This is the invention that enables you to set your video recorder to tape a programme, knowing that it will be recorded in full, even if the programme is shown later than advertised.

The problem is, when I set the video to record a programme, I dont know whether to have the PDC on or not. When I have it enabled, the video keeps stooping and starting recording, missing out 10-20 seconds a time. I know this isnt much, but it disrupts the flow of the programme.

Also, would it be enabled with the star on the programme screen, or without the star?

Many thanks in advance.

With the '*' on screen it should be activated.
Does it only stop and start with PDC activated ? And does it do it randomly or at the start and end of a commercial break ?

PDC normally works well though the BBC have been known to get the times wrong messing up peoples recordings. PDC also only works on Analogue TV and Satellite tv but not with Freeview as there's no teletext component.

I just had a look on the Philips Service Dealer site , I know the Password etc instinctively from work ,and they don't have any problems listed for this new model. In fact they haven't even added the model number to the database yet.

Thanks for replying.

It only stops and starts with the '*' on screen. I guess the answer is to not use the PDC.

Its a shame as it seems like a good idea. Does it stop recording for the adverts, and then start again once they have finished?

I couldn't see mention of ad skipping but it was just a thought.
I had one of this model today to check but hadn't got a newspaper to hand else I'd have looked to see if that did it as well.

The first batch we had had problems with the DVD but since then they seem to be ok.
