They have 19s around £200 sometimes lower.
The main advantage is space. A 19 inch monitor is very deep so you land up needing a desk just for the monitor ,plus they are very heavy.
A don't know how the power consumption compares must like with all LCDs the screen does get rather warm as they are back lit.
I use a Samton 91S 19 Inch LCD monitor which has preformed well for something like 18 months to 2 years. It's doesn't have the fastest refresh rate (about 25mS) but preforms excellently with video.
I use it at 1024x728 on all but one PC.
CRT is much cheaper but the overall size and weight is a big let down.
Service wise unless they has a major service centre to go back to the most most places could do swap boards which is the same with LCD TVs.
The last CRT monitors I saw still used more serviceable boards based on normal tv technology. You still have problems getting spares that are dedicated to that model but there are more general components that as easy to obtain and fit.
But as the prices are dropping all the time and you get 2 years out of a monitor the chances are by then a replacement will be less that the one you last bought so you might as well get a new one rather than fix the old one.
