I watched part of a programme on ITV this afternoon called Make Me Perfect.
It was the final programme of a series where middle aged women had applied to go through a long process of plastic surgery, counselling, makeovers etc, so they could walk down the catwalk and "be perfect".
I got really annoyed at it. You can't make anyone perfect. Especially not through a facelift or sorting out eyebags or re-doing their hair and makeup or whatever. No-one is perfect, no-one ever will be, and to suggest something cosmetic can make you permanently more happy is surely a bit wrong? (see Pete Burns for details perhaps)
Is plastic surgery starting to become a normal thing to do? Popping down the shops for some bread and milk and half an hour of lipo?
Why can't people accept the way they look and be happy with it?
I've got lines around my eyes but that's because I laugh so much! And i've pretty much accepted i'm never going to be a size 10 again unless i starve myself for a few months, which I'm never going to do because I like my food. Plus, my gran is in her eighties and imo has the most beautiful white hair and expressive face.
Sorry - this is a rant. But what's wrong with accepting the ageing process?
