Saw this earlier this morning.

In October Microsoft say they'll stop support of all versions of XP SP1.
But there must be 1000's of systems that are not SP2 compatible that'll be left behind.

I've had two PCs that wouldn't run with SP2. One was a high spec dual CPU that ran slow and gave errors. The other wouldn't reboot after the upgrade and was hell trying to get into safe mode before uninstalling SP2.

I have a mate who is an absolute genius with PC's and in fact, he built this one. He's always pleaded with me to avoid SP2 at all costs as it really is more trouble than it's worth.

Another mate who works for Fujitsu Computers said the same.

With the problems I had with my two PCs I didn't want to use it but then I bought a P4 2.8GHz and it came installed. I have to say I quite like it now.

So far the laptop from the other thread has it installed and is now having the updates installed and apart from the Security Centre complaining that the MS firewall is turned off because I'm using Zonealarm it's looking ok. But we'll see what happens when I start using it.

All going well next week (I'm on holiday :) ) I will be able ,weather permitting ,sit outside in the garden and still have Internet well away from the house and phones and just relax.
