MORE than 77,400 people have HIV in Britain, official figures revealed yesterday.
The record total is up 4,400 — or six per cent — in a year.

Over half of new cases were in heterosexuals, and 40 per cent were African migrants.

Alarmingly, more than 21,000 people — 28 per cent of the total — are UNAWARE they have the virus, which can lead to AIDS
