If I hadn't seen it land I might not have found it.

Also the Elephant Hawk Moth Catapillar is the first I've seen in more than 30 years. I was going to pull up some weeds next to one of the Greenhouses when I found it. They grow to around 5 - 6 inches long and about as thick as regular adult finger. And when the snout is withdrawn it looks a bit like a tiny snake with it's eye partern at the front. I'm sure Google can find some more pictures.

Something you don't see everyday !

Almost a twister

Just happened to look out of the kitchen window while getting my food prior to leaving for work when I spotted the above. It would have been interesting to have spotted it earlier and then to have monitored to see how close it got to a touch down. The funnel was changing shape so who know how close we came.

Saw a thunder storm about 8 years ago over Wellingborough with rotation which was interesting but there wasn't a funnel just this massive black cloud spinning as it moved slowly overhead.
