Thanks JB...I will look into it right now while I'm in this mood! It's the principle of the thing isn't it?!
I need Jon Tickle to write a letter for me.

Oh and thanks Niki :D

can't you write and say you thought you heard a siren approaching and panicked a bit, say you mentioned this to the attendant and as you know, they must write everything that happened in their book so ask for a copy, it's a delaying tactic but works too

mmmm maybe, but I'm not a very good liar! As long as I don't have to talk face to face I might give it a go.
I know my boyfriend will just say ''ffs pay them the f***ing money'' :-?

Even if your gunna fight it you might have to pay it before so that you don't get stung for the full £80.00. A friend of mine got caught like that - you can always ask at the local police station or council officers. They should be able to let you know what you can do about it.

Blimey...I might just phone them up and see what they say cos trying to sift through all the legislation malarky is like looking for a needle in a haystack :-?
I have a feeling though it will come down to ''you may pay road tax but you don't pay pavement tax''. Stingers.

I've fought tix and you state in the letter that the fine will be held over until the dispute is settled

Still worth a go though - the worst they can say is you've still got to pay it - but don't loose it on the phone - calm, cool collected and in the right. ()^

Tough luck HD and on "national walk to school week" as well.

I bet the wardens were sent there by the council just to wind up those who are not "walking to school".

Good point PW.....it did seem like they timed it just as they knew everyone was in the school. It wasn't just me who got one.

Just read this!!
GUTTED mate!

I spect youve calmed down by now - I would write a letter of complaint or an email!

There is a difference between a traffic warden and police traffic wardens - so i would find out on that before you worry about whether he had a hat or not!!

LMAO at thanking him though (sorry mate but thats such a typically british thing to do!!)

::lol:: I've calmed down now! I paid it by credit card this morning  but will be writing a stern letter and I'm gonna take some pictures of the road etc. Thought I'd better pay it first though incase they ignore my letter (I've heard they do this alot, throw letters away without even reading them) and I get stung for the whole £80.
Who knows....worth a try. The pancake flippers.

Had a similar experience in York not long ago - we went on a Saturday with the kids, got to a car park and saw someone pulling out of a space - so we jumped in. Paid the parking fee, put ticket on windscreen, went off for day - and came back to a parking ticket.

Seems we had parked over the white line, which we were forced to do because the **** in the next space (with a BMW) was taking almost two spaces. Our car went just over the line to the left and was not blocking anything, there was a bit of pavement (going nowhere apart from a brick wall) then some bushes.

So - we complained to York Council but sent the £30 cheque (50% off within x days etc) anyway. (They say they didn't get it.) Next thing we had a letter from bailiffs claiming £90 plus costs.

Thankfully I have a friend in the local county court - he gave me a form to defer the judgement (made without any notification!) and put it back to York Council for action. That went to the central court clearing place in Northampton and they've advised it's back with York now.

Waiting to hear from them at present, if nothing by this Friday I'll call them to find out what they're playing at.

Oh, the 'offence' took place in November - it's taken all this time for them to let us know they didn't get the cheque...

I've since been back and taken photographs of the car park area to support my claim, minus the offending BMW, and described what happened. Even if that fails they have to accept the original £30, not the expanded amount.

As long as you're arguing with them the 'expiry date' is suspended.

At least that's my experience of how it works.
