Back on topic, I've made some of my workmates paranoid today. I told them my lenten task, and as I was being nice to them, they each asked me later if I really liked them.

This is already going very, very wrong.

yes, we still did the ash on the forehead thing, as we share the service with the parish church. We share quite a few seasonal services with them so the traditions get shared about. We're pretty similar at the end of the day really.

Having been to synagogues as well, I would say that even Christianity and Judaism are more alike than they'd care to admit-at a synagogue service the structure of the service seems pretty similar to most Christian services I've been to (Catholic, high and low Anglilcan, Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian, etc, however not Quaker obviously) as they have readings from the Torah (first 5 books of the Bible), psalms, music, prayers, a sermon and what we would call a hymn. They even share bread and wine at the end of the service.

Cue for a philosophical discussion on how everyone's really the same at heart, and that's why wars start...

yeah, there's a lot of similarities, i would tend to argue it's the same God anyway......but that's a whooole other debate.
