Paintshop Pro can do wondrous things without too much intervention.
One Step Photo fix did most of it on it's own. Then once Colour Balance was activated I was lucky that the three sample areas produced this excellent result. With Colour Balance you select say three points a White ,a Black ,and a Grey in the picture and hopefully it works. Sometimes you can play for a while and get a result other times it doesn't give the results you want. This time I was very lucky and it worked first time.

But it still needs a certain level of information to be present in the first place.

It's a very good picture and would look good as a card or even enlarged and framed. Well done.

Larry - you take some wonderful photos.

And that's a lovely scene, Jezi. Really pretty. My brother has been known to make good adjustments to my photos, just as Larry has done with yours. It can make such a difference when you know what you're doing. I just point, click and hope for the best!

Tried this one tonight during the heavy rain.
Doesn't show the volume of water coming down the road but the street lights provide all the lighting which gives an interesting effect.
Taken with the Olympus pocket camera with the flash turned off. Not sure what it focused on but hopefully I'll get it fixed soon.

Some Starlings feeding this morning.
There's an amazing range of colours in the feathers when the Sun catches them right.

Starlings aren't the most thought of bird ,in fact many regard them as pests but when you look closer you do see the amazing colours reflected off their shinny feathers.
I've got some pictures of their young looking out from the top of next-door's conifers looking rather cheeky.

I must try and get to the local wildlife park shortly as it's a haven for bird life. Look HERE for more details.

More garden birds.

First two are Goldcrests which we don't remember seeing before in the garden.

The rest are Wrens. I saw a pair around the compost heap so maybe their nesting nearby.

Come to the conclusion that I need a bigger lens to get more detailed pictures of things this small at the distance I had to stand to get them. These are the actual size after cropping the fullsize images. Still they don't look too bad but could have been bigger.

Now here's an interesting question.

Do I save £700 and get a 100 - 500mm lens or do I get a 2x Teleconverter to double the effective size of the my existing 28mm - 300mm Tele with Macro and then continue to save and Get the D80 which is double the resolution of the D50 ? And the D80 is now under £550.

I know using a 2x convertor will reduce the available light where as the 500mm lens is a larger diameter allowing more light.

Years ago I used a 2x with a lens with a film SLR in fact somewhere I have an over exposed picture of a Dragonfly taken with effectivily (2 lots of 2x and a 300mm lens) 1200mm of lens hand-held as well. So if one of those missed the lens contacts on the D50 I could at least have a play using manual controls ,though the Jessops 2x has through contacts to allow the lens to function normally (computers get everywhere these days).
