Seems there are two spellings second is Buddleja.

Been trying to find reference to this shrub but have drawn a blank.
Have 3 large details books of plants ,flowers etc still nowt.
Leaves look like a Buddleia the small cone shaped flowers resemble a Buddleia though smaller flowers in the cone look different.

I've done endless google searchs for Buddleias and Buddlejas gotten loads of names and pictures but can't find this one if it is one.

Local garden centre hasn't got any.

Can anybody point me in the right direction.

We now have 4 different Buddleias ,(when I finish planting the 3 new ones) ,and they really add colour to the garden and attract the insects.

Appologies for the picture size but I wanted to keep the detail on the cones.

There is a possibility that it's a hybrid. A cross between a Buddleia Globosa which has ball type flowers and the more common Davidi (Cone flowers). So you have a the colour of the Globosa and in the shape of a Cone. Haven't seen a picture yet to prove this but a discription I just found sounds promising.

Looks like a hybrid to me Larry, some of the plant breeders are getting very clever but without going through all the 'plantsmen's sites it is almost impossible to identify it.
An email, with pic to one of the 'Garden' mags may work, you never know :D

A Buddleia Weyerana looks the most likely one.
Yes I've spent a few hours going through the various websites but can't find a picture.

We do have a Buddleia Globosa that has ball shaped flowers which are a very similar colour to the one in the picture.

We have various seed and plant catalogues plus some very large reference books about plants but I kept getting know where.

I was even thinking of getting a cutting when the traffic is lower but knowing my luck I'd be the one to get caught !

We now have a border with three Budleias ,a Dark Purple , a 'Blue' ,and a White. I got one more plant to find space for. It's a big garden by todays standards. It's as wide as both the two houses that were build about 15 years about that border it at the bottom. In fact you could at another two half way down and still give then their own garden. Saying that one side is buildings (2 greenhouses and a shed).

I'm sure I'm find a picture somewhere.
Thanks.

I am sure it is a Buddleia - look at the leaves and the shape of the blossom. They are lovely plants aren't they? Unusual colour though

We are searching for a source as I said I think from the description I read that a Buddleia Weyerana might well be the plant but I can't find a picture. And the three plant catalogues I've looked through don't list it. And a google search of main supplies in the UK doesn't look good.

I'm thinking a trip out around dusk might be required for a cutting.

If you look a the Buddleia Globosa you'll find where the colour comes from but they have crossed it with the Buddleia Davidii series to transform the blooms from balls to cones.

We want one but prefer to buy a plant rather and cut a bit off somebody elses.

I started out searching for a yellow cone one but drew a blank.
Then someone remembered walking passed what they though was a yellow hence a walk later I have the posted picture.

We have a dark purple ,a blue ,a white ,and another purple but lighter than the first.

Yes they do grow fast ,you should cut them back in march to between 12 and 18 inches and they'll grow back to between 2.5 and 3 metres high and up to 5M wide. If you remove the dead flowers they will continue flowering well into september.

I downloaded a list of recommended plants to have when planning a Butterfly garden and we discovered that we already had around 80% of them.

The scent from the Buddliea is great as you do into that section of the garden.
