I don't tend to worry about things being a little past the sell by date like a day or so, however my mum the other day ate a creme caramel she found in the fridge and gave one to dad and they were dated 27th April    They were both fine but there's no way I would of touched it with a barge pole! Dad said she didn't tell him till he'd finished it either ::lol:: :naughty:

My mum would eat most things months out of date.

If it's fresh food esp yogurts or milk i don't tend to let it go over by much but with tinned etc you have a lot greater leeway.

I don't know how far back i would go when it comes to eating food, but i don't think it would be too far though. I dunno, something like a month maybe.

this is some thing I'm quite pedantic about actually - I always end up throwing stuff out of the fridge away if it is out of date......even packets of stuff, tins, cans etc - I get a bit snobby about it

my dad is always giving me a hard time about it - and slags me off for being ridiculous

*although I did drink some out of date Miller once as it was all he had in the house*

Tinned stuff should be OK if it's not dented but any fresh stuff looking mildly non-pristine gets the bin...though I did once eat mouldy toast..by accident :-?
