I now have XP. Can you tell me the name of the free microsoft anti-spyware programme download, or a link to it please?

I use Spy-Bot which is very good, there is also one called Xoft Spy which isn't bad.

don't be wasting time with MS anti-spyware. There is NO POINT ! They will be charging for it eventually anyway.

Lavasoft will more than suffice. Also, for anti-virus, use AVG.

Webroots Spysweeper does a great job. You get 30 days free trial and it's not expensive to get the license.
Zonealarm Pro now also has a Spyware sweeper built in.
I also agree that Ad-Aware from Lavasoft is also good.

Spysweeper current has definitions for over 107000 known traces of Spyware and Adware.
