Simple question but on some surfaces black marker pens dry purple.
Why ?
Is it the pigment used in the ink ? Or maybe the cemicals used ?
Perminant markers tend to be worse.

Any ideas ?

Very few of the marker pens dry as a true black due to the dyes used in their inks. The only true 'BLACK' used to come from special 'India Ink' pens. We used to use them when preparing artwork for the camera in the print studio. The old ball points used a 'lead' based ink which worked very well and stained shirts for ever and caused havoc with the fingers. They did, however, come in very usefull when writing on the anatomy of drunks..............bridegrooms were fair game

We used to use them for touching metal speaker grills when the paint got rubbed off. Only shoe pens and actual paint pens that are used to touch up car paint worked.
