On R & J there was a discussion with Nadia, Makoski and George Gallaway, about how BB can ruin your life and how you can end up in theorpy, but it has positive appeal to a few but the rest seemed to of ruined there lives.

George Gallaway said if your not famous it's best to avoid it because the change can be too much, where as the Celeb BB they already had careers and was use to the fame.

What do people think? I can see he has a point that if you can't handle people coming up to you all the time no matter how you feel then it can really take it's toll, it's easy to cope with the fame better if your already in the media, compared to someone who literally has overnight fame.

I didn't see it either, but I think that in this instance, George Galloway has a point - instant 'fame' is difficult, in many ways I'm sure.

On a very minor level, a good while back, I found myself in a position where I knew people in supermarkets were categorising me as 'the person that thing happened to', and I didn't like it one bit. Even though people were probably viewing me sympathetically, it was awful to know that they knew (or thought they knew) stuff about me, but it wasn't a situation where I could talk to them about their thoughts. It made me really appreciate that it's really quite nice to be mainly anonymous.

But on the other hand, does that mean that only 'bona fide' celebrities (if anyone can find any of them, nowadays) should participate in reality programmes, according to Galloway?

For everything that's gained, something is lost, I suppose. Potential Housemates should weigh up the pros and cons. Some former HM's have handled the 'fame' (and subsequent lack of fame) very well - I'd call that having one's head screwed on. Others don't seem to be able to cope very well at all.
