A question - Can the GSM section of a Nokia THR-850 be unlocked to be used normally ?

If you check the websites that do unlocking they list the phone and I have a calculator for the unlock codes that lists it but as I don't know the network id I can't generate the unlock codes.

Background info.
The radio / phone is a dual band Tetra / GSM handset with a regular SIM holder. I think it might well be set for the De-funked Dolphin network. Is there a keyboard sequence to get the network id ?
As it is now it's just an ornament which is a shame as it has a large screen like the 7110 and I think if it'll sit in the holder the 7110 car kit should work.

Any ideas ?

Had a thought... i just got my old mobile reconnected with Orange for free .... but why dont you try ringing 150 or 450 on the mobile itself or just ring Oranges land line 07973 100 450 and quote the number, you never know they might say, sorry sir that numbers with @@@@ and problem solved ... but note Orange themselves charge £25 to unlock the network on one of their phones

It's a shame there isn't a way of getting the network ID out of the phone as the calculator program I have would then generate the unlock codes.

The trouble is that most of these phones / radios were used on the Dolphin network which closed a couple of years ago. But it was a TETRA network with the handsets also having GSM.
The handsets are still in use by some services as they are also Airwave compatible (note there is a very large user list of Airwaves not just the emergency services).

I could always send someone to a market just in case someone have the 'clip' to unlock it as that way you don't need to know anything about the network.

One feature I like is the built in hands-free speaker system.
Plus the large address book and Inbox.
Obviously 3/4 of the features can never be used as I'm not licenced to use Airwaves or any other type of Tetra communications.

I have tried an O2 SIM in it but obviously it wouldn't access the network.

But it was very cheap (under £10) so I haven't lost much.
