I know it's a beetle.
We have them on a Buddleia Globlosa (Buddleia with ball shaped flowers) and on a wild rose bush.
They don't seem very interested in the aphids on the daisies next to them which the ants and Ladybirds are feasting on. But we have never seen this beetle before. Size wise it's about 3mm (smaller than the normal 7 spotted Ladybird).

Good question.
The pictures look the same but there aren't any close-ups to check the finer details.
I've got some books on their way one of which might have more detail.

I guess these are a European version rather than the American ones ,but if I find any more definitive details I'll post them here.

I think this is the same beetle. It's a figwort weevil if it is the same one.
