We have a niece who is currently growing around 4 - 5 inches a year. At present she is 9 and is 4 feet 10 inches but before very long she'll look older than she is which for some of the places she visits ,where the child / adult prices change I believe at 14 ,I can see her having to point out that she is younger before getting the lower price.

But I wondered about some sort of id like post-school-age teens need to get served in pubs especially if they look younger. Do such things exist these days ?

I was also very tall for my age when at school and stopped growing around 6ft whilst 13 but never really went any where interesting so didn't have too many problems.

Larry I think most doormen/bouncers go on the face rather than the height. My step daughter still has to take ID out with her and she is 28, wheras I wasn't even asked when I was 14 (old hag that I am)

Very true for clubs and things of that nature but I was thinking more of places where her age group visit like activity parks ,shows (anything historical) ,etc.

Yes I could pass as 18 when I was 13 especially if I hadn't shaved that day.

I remember travelling free on the school bus even though I hadn't got a pass just because I got on with someone who regally used the service.

The only problem I had in the first year of secondary school was constantly out growing the uniform. Think I had five blazers in the first year. Also I left Junior school taking size 6 shoe and started secondary in size 9 and ended the first year in either 10 or 11.

So it's not unusual for some of our family to have very rapid growth spurts. But so far everyone has stopped early as well. But she has always been tall right from before she could talk when she was made fun of by some kids who thought she was older.

But the little devil say's she is looking forward to being bigger than her mother as she is always being bossed around .And at this rate it wouldn't long before her wish comes true.

The tricky thing about that Larry, is if they can't get on rides or things which they are too tall for but young enough for mentally. I remember taking a nephew to a kids play area when he was about 9 and they wouldn't let him play because he was too tall. Quite unfair really.

Good for your neice in being happy with her height. All too often we hear about girls hating being tall.

My daughter is nearly taller than me and she is 13. She also looks older than her years which girls often do imo. Added to that is her heels and when I go out with her I feel considerably stumpy and old. :-?

At present she hasn't any problems with her height though she is very conscious of developing in other ways.
And is having to go for more appropriate choices clothes wise. But apart from that she still likes her pink outfits and stuff just like everybody else.
