What could you not live without ? Long ago I used to wonder just how long I could manage without my daily (or is that hourly?) drug-like fix of the net. Its not been easy. No forums, no news, no storm tracking radar, no email ! I coped though....just.
Personally, I would have found it easier to live without electricity or a cooker for a couple of months than not have the net. Anyway, the days have certainly slipped by...
Day 46
Yes, it has been 46 days or so since I moved out of the hell-hole where I used to live. The new place is better than I had hoped for. Despite it being London (for you net stalkers, I'm now located in the Brent X area, GPS co-ordinates on request), there is seemingly no near neighbours who are 'crazy'/socially vile.
So, I actually have a home-life that is quiet for 97% of the waking day, rather than around 5% - which is roughly how low it used to be. I'm kind of afraid to even hope it'll remain as good as it currently is, in case it tempts fate to send me a new set of neighbours to ruin my home life. Even so, so far...7 weeks of 'fine'.
I've not had the net at home since I moved (long story), but I am finally back online. Although for the moment, I am back to using stone (or is that Bronze?) age technology. I've a dial-up modem (ohh the pain of 56k !), but its way better than using any cyber cafe.
BB7...so errr.....what did I miss ?
As for BB, I've not seen a single second of coverage in 8 weeks. I did get to see the opening ten days or so, but that's all. I've heard its somewhat boring and C4/Endemol have stuck in a lot of newbies to keep the numbers up. Naturally, the public have again kicked out the most entertaining housemates (Nicki, Lea, etc etc). I suppose at least the viewers are consistent in that they want a boring wallpaper housemate to win....or perhaps Pete will stay in favour from start to finish?
So, BB7 is mostly a non-show for me, not least because I've hardly seen any of it. I am sure BB8 will be somewhat better. BB is different every year, and so the one thing you can be sure of next summer is that the show will be different - although that could mean worse as well as better
I hope to get hooked into a broadband line within a month, and then I'll be feeling (no pun) connected with the universe again.
In the meantime, there is this 56k modem sitting on my desk, but I need to limit it to an hour a day though, since its costing £1 or so an hour !
So, I send a big HELLO to you all, and that its nice to be back...even if it is on a 56k modem. One of my elite forum spies has told me its been somewhat quiet on bbfans lately (primarily due to a dull BB), but maybe things will wake up...now that I'm here
*ps, just read all your replies to my previous posts, thankyou. Good thoughts indeed, much appreciated
