At the wedding I went to yesterday, the bride and groom did the usual 'first dance' thing (to a very nice song) and it led to me and my friends having a long conversation about the most inappropriate songs to have as the first dance at your wedding.

We came up with:
House of Pain - Jump Around
any kind of trance track
Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up or Firestarter
Bob the Builder - Can we Fix It?
Black Lace - Agadoo
Vic Reeves/Wonder Stuff - Dizzy
Tammy Wynette - DIVORCE
Rolling Stones - Paint it Black
Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over

Anyone got any other ideas? Or, if you've done it, what did you dance to?

I can't think of any inappropriate titles, but anyone who still asks for the theme to Titanic. Honestly... :puke:

Okay, how about 'Dirty' by Christina Aguilera? ::lol:: I think I'll have that at my (next) wedding...

I think it'd be novel to watch the wedding party attempt to dance to:

Quote:
I Write Sins Not Tragedies

Oh, well imagine; as I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor,
and I can't help but to hear, no I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words.
"What a beautiful wedding!, What a beautiful wedding!" says a bridesmaid to her waiter.
"Ah yes, but what a shame, what a shame, the poor groom's bride is a *****."

I mean, it's got a kind of difficult rhythm.... ::lol::

On the other hand, 'Blood Wedding' by the Oyster Band, is actually a 'feel-good' song...and would have everyone up on the floor:

Do you take this woman? I said, yes I do
I love her like crazy
& I think she loves me too
But we'll do without the family
if it's all the same to you
happy ever after
Your mother is a flake,
my father's full of shite
Your sister says you married me in white
just for spite
Well a party's not a party
till it ends up in a fight
happy ever after

And there was my lot and your lot
and us two in between
This is the last time I get married
(please God)
This is the last time I get married

My brother's never short
of a substance to abuse
Rum & glue & Thunderbird
& wizz & Special Brew
Any minute now he'll show us
ALL of his tattoos
happy ever after
Nephews are obnoxious, nieces are too tall
A dozen drunken uncles
are pissing up the wall
Grandad is grinning
but there's no one home at all
happy ever after

For richer, for poorer,
for better or for worse
Now we are married, a blessing or a curse
Kiss me & don't forget
What you see is what you get

And the best man is the worst man,
the best man is a beast
Underneath the table
with the sister of the priest
The way he's going at it
she is probably deceased
happy ever after
Granny's on the brandy, getting bleary-eyed
Guys I went to school with
want to see me outside
Someone's pulled the bridesmaid.
Anyone seen the bride?
happy ever after

(well, you DID ask, Trolleydolley  )

My contribution to the thread...

It's A Sin - Pet Shop Boys
The Road To Hell - Chris Rea
I Predict A Riot - Kaiser Chiefs
F*** You I'm Drunk - The Pogues

You'll be pleased to know that Martin and myself didn't have any of the above for our first dance. {@}

I wonder what you DID have, Suzanne?

I never got the chance to have a 'first dance'. Bit of an odd wedding, ours (would you have expected anything less?). Rather a small affair, with a meal for family and a few friends, then a bit of a gathering for the masses later on that evening.

But us 'young folks' (yes, it was a long long time ago) came back to our town later that night, and went to a disco!

My friend was talking to a guy there, and went to put her hand on his shoulder, but accidentally knocked him through the fire exit door.

But I remember dancing to 'The Only Way is Up' by Yazz, which was No 1 at the time. I suppose there could be worse songs to remind me of the occasion.

Hmm...

How about 'The Imperial March', aka Lord Vaders theme ?
I've sometimes envisioned that, whilst the bride waits for me at the alter. Oh yeah, you read that right, she'd be the one waiting, not me.
---

If not that, then something from southpark. Say, 'the most offensive song ever'. That'd work great in a cathedral.

Calrissian: would need to buy a cloak as well.
