Does anyone use Denplan or is a member of any private healthplan? I'm thinking of signing-up. Denplan will be £13.45/month, or about £160/year. Is it worth it, considering what look like paltry benefits? Unless I need major work done it hardly does seem worth it. I haven't been to the dentist for years (I know, minging), however, I think I look after them pretty well, and they're all still there, and they're all still my own

I've also been offered Cashback Healthcare from AXA, at £9.62/month. This seems to offer more benefits, including basic dental treatment, optical benefits, physiotherapy, chiropody, allergy testing, healthchecks, etc. As an incentive any cover would be effective immediately, not 6 months after I take up the policy. Sounds good, but just want to know any opinions/experiences.

I have been a member of Denplan for a couple of years - it was the only way to stay with my dentist though I think. However, although I haven't had any major work done, I have certainly benefitted this year and found the service excellent.

Since Jan, I have had five wisdom tooth infections (am now on waiting list for hospital) - but it has meant that I have been able to phone up and get an appointment at a moments notice, all xrays etc for free, and the peace of mind I spose in knowing that it's all paid for should something more serious go wrong.

I spose it's like any kind of insurance, you don't see the need for it until it happens

The AXA one sounds good though - I just don't know anything about it

Me too - I am with Denplan because I wanted to keep my dentist. Been ok so far

I just had a filling replaced - I think it must be the NHS - all it cost was £12.48 for two sessions.

That sounds very cheap Cameron. Since 1st April 2006, the NHS have put their prices up. It now costs £42.40 for a filling. See UK NHS Dentist Prices

Unless that's just the first bill for the consultation and the real one will be coming!
