Hi everyone,

I know it's a bit of a ghost town around here at the moment, but I thought I would post this anyway. I am doing the London Marathon in April this year and have set up a Justgiving link, in the hope that some of you kind souls will sponser me. It's the first marathon that I have ever done and I'm not a natural runner, so I have had to work very hard for it. I run 6 days a week (well that's the theory anyway :D ), a distance each day ranging from 5 miles up to my current maximum which is 18 miles. This longer run, I complete once a week and I have been building up my stamina for this week by week, adding an extra two miles on each time.

I would really appreciate any donations small (or large). The charity I am running for is Barnardos.

This is the link if you would like to contribute:-

Go ellie :)

If that chav Jade is there can we sponsor you to throw a brick at her? :D

This is of course a joke and I would hate for Jade to profit from it in anyway by going on the cover of a magazine saying ''my marathon brick threat hell'' followed by an account of how she was rushed to therapy for 20 minutes to recover

It's a fantastic achievement ellie and I really hope we (myself and Boopers 1&2) can get down there to cheer you on

All the best with this Ellie - I shouldn't imagine it will be easy.

I will sponsor you after I get back from Butlins at the end of this month and get paid again, as I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it will be.

Just remember the Jade way of training - lots of curries, and watch out for kebabs!

Seriously, you're doing an amazing thing and I hope it goes so so well. And you can celeb-spot on the way round.

Phenomenal achievement, Ellie - to be running 18 miles at this stage! Well done to you, and wishing you every success.

what a great thing to do ellie! I am full of admiration for you.

makes learning to play the cello seem like a walk in the park - rather than a run round London!

all the best xxx

Thanks Felicity. Just as an update. I ran twenty miles today (my longest yet) in 4 hours and 30 minutes and felt every second.

I think I need to go and lay down in a darkened room now for some time.

Yikes, Ellie, I nearly to lie down in a darkened room after reading that.

Am thinking of those song lyrics: 'So what have you done today to make you feel proud?' - you'll not be found wanting, that's for sure!

Perhaps Felicity could be there to play the cello at the finishing line - well done to both of you.

ahem BUMP!

ellie is running the marathon this Sunday. Anyone else willing to sponsor a few quid? Personally I couldn't run a bath so I really admire her.

Go on, you know you want to :)

Thanks for the good wishes. I have just had my last pre-marathon run, just a short one of five miles, before Sunday. I filled in my training programme and have completed 538 miles so far during training, so if I am not ready now, I never will be. My only real concern is the weather forecast. I never run in the heat, although it has been hot here for about a month, I have been running very early in the morning around 6am or after 7pm when it is much cooler and the forecast for Sunday in London is 21 degrees. I will really struggle in that heat, so am hoping the forecasters have it wrong.

538 miles! I'm sure that's much further than I've run in my entire life....

Go for it ellie, have a great time, and if it's hot, just give thanks you're not dressed up as a gorilla or a Dalek ; )
