Don't think it was as good as other years ,but I'm a Kylie fan.

I did like the revert to the original theme at the end which I remember correctly was composed my the person this episode is dedicated to.

It wasn't as great as usual - lots of cliche stuff like getting across the bridge etc - but it was OK.

And I got to watch David Tennant for an hour and a half, so not complaining!! :)

And it was MUCH better than To the Manor Born!

I was wrong about Verity Lambert, she was the first producer of Dr Who back in the 60's.

I've now watched it twice. Once on the BBCi website and then downloaded it from the DRWHO Newsgroup.

I must say I loved it. I don't think the Christmas Specials are the best of Doctor Who any year, but I much preferred this to The Runaway Bride episode, and I'm NOT looking forward to Catherine Tate being the new assistant. If only Kylie had been able to take it on!! I do like Catherine Tate in her comedy show, but I can't take her seriously in Doctor Who.

Hoping she'll prove me wrong of course!

And I didn't think To the Manor Born was up to much either. But an evening spent looking at David Tennant, Mark Ramprakash and Gethin Jones more than made up for it, hehe!

I do adore those Christmas/Richard Armitage Vicar of Dibley episodes. The first one, in particular, had me on the floor laughing - and I'm not kidding!

As for the divine Mr Armitage, he was looking fab yet again in tonight's Robin Hood finale. Though his actions at the end were NOT good, and left me very disappointed. I am not happy with any of the endings at all, in fact, but will not discuss further in case people haven't seen it yet. Or am I the only saddo who watches???

Tuts, BB - Doctor Who is fabby. And I'm looking forward very much to the new series of Torchwood. John Barrowman is yet another gay man who is a great loss to the female of the species!! On the Lee Mead programme earlier, he was with his partner, who is another drop dead gorgeous guy. *sighs*.

But I was all chuffed to have a handy DVD to record the Vicar of Dibley tongiht. And all this tv has kept me back from my reason for coming home for an overnight stay. Namely to tidy and clean my home so that I can go back to Donegal for a week and not come home to a disaster area the night before work!!!

oh now he's another one I totally fancy :) :) and my daughter does too which is a bit weird for me. I hate competing with her let's face it she's gonna win every time she's younger and prettier. ::lol::

Not sure I enjoyed it so much... kept expecting Bender (the robot, not Barrowman) to make an appearance. The animated Futurama did the story so much better years ago.

But yeah, the xmas specials are a bit of a let down... although Kylie's inclusion could start a trend where we'll see other A'listers putting themselves forward. It might even become the new festive tradition where the nation awaits to see who is this year's Dr Who christmas star - as opposed to awaiting the christmas day Eastender's murder/marrage/disappearance/divorce?

Oh and Miss Tate is going to be a total disaster as the new assistant... are the BBC so hard up they couldn't get someone better? I did quite like Martha Jones, more than Rose even. But a missed opportunity, I feel, was not to cast Thomas Sangster (Tim) from The Family of Blood double episode shown earlier this year.

A character from the past, innocent of the ways of the modern world (and the universe) would have made an interesting contrast to the too worldy Rose and Martha. Plus, we could have had a rest from the silly "I secretly fancy the Dr" story arc the producers seem hung on.

Anyway... I feel my geekness is showing now

John, what's a bit of geekness between friends?! I am glad someone else preferred Martha to Rose. And I'm getting sick of the "I secretly fancy the Doctor" storylines too (even the divine Mr Barrowman is a bit guilty of that, lol!).

I quite like the idea of the nation being more excited about the A'lister appearing on Doctor Who rather than worrying about Eastenders. I will miss David Tennant when he decides to depart, though - he's great fun, and I'm worried about who may replace him. I was gutted at Chris Eccleston only doing one series, though, and look what the producers came up with!
