Go on, you know you want to. What was your personal favourite toy?

One toy I never had, but always wanted (even still do today despite the fact I'm in my late 30's) was the playdoh barber shop. Is there a therapist in the house? Cheque please :)

Oh, that was great - though I don't think they had invented it when I was child, but I sure enjoyed playing when my children got it in the mid 90's.

I always fancied a train set - never got near one. :-(

I always wanted a Sindy House because my best friend Angela had one. It was the height of decadence when I was eight. And my poor Sindy horse had to live under a chair, not in a stable.

I've always felt deprived because of that.... ::lol::

Oh, that reminds me (and apologies if this is beginning to sound like a Monty Python sketch)..we were so poor that instead of having dolls, I used to play with the 'crib' characters (i.e, Mary Joseph, baby, shepherds, a cow and a lamb...all year around. I hadn't got a 'crib' or a house to put them in...they had to live in this shallow cardboard box (and the scary thing is, over 30 years later, I can still remember the biro marks on that box...now who needs a therapist?!)

Anyway, time for bed, Zebedee. :)

I sort of remember when I used to visit my grandparents when I was six, they kept their daughters toys to one side so I ended up playing with my action man and having him living in my mums doll house. The great part was when I had his handgrenades hidden in the toilet :D ::lol:: ::lol::

Ha, great thread!

Got a list of my favourites!

1. Subbuteo! - I had everything, the pitch, 50 odd teams, the stadium, the scoreboard, battery powered floodlights, the lot. Fantastic stuff! Probably the best Xmas present I've ever had. I woke up Xmas morning and my big brother had left a note saying "Left your pressie in the front room" and there it was, all set up on the table!

2. WWF Wrestling ring & figures! - Had the WWF ring with the sounds and about 30 wrestling figures, fantastic. We couldn't go in town without a trip to Toymaster so my Mum could buy me a new figure!

3. Transformers figures! - Had loads of them and was devastated when my sister stepped on my favourite one and broke it!

4. Mike Atherton's World Cup Cricket! - I've still got this somewhere in the attic. Used to be my choice of toy every time we had a "bring a toy" day at primary school!

Come the morning I'm heading up to Homebase with my dad. Since starting this thread I've decided to build a dolls house for my daughter.

I figure Ill screw it up and make it look like deformed kennle, but I think it's something I have to do.

We'll buy plywood, wood glue, titchy nail thingies (I dont feel so confident at the moment, lol) and I'll borrow some tools from the old geezer himself. Thanks to where he works I'll be able to get some thin perspex for windows.

But the biggest challenge will be making the furniture. I'm sure I'll get all the info about that from the internet, after all that is what it's the for :)

Awww...sounds lovely, and would have so much more character than a 'shop-bought' one.

Lucky daughter - maybe having a 'bespoke' kitchen at such a young age ;) And perhaps you could also make some rather basic bits and pieces, which would give her a chance to use her imagination? Later on, she might like to make things with you - I can see it now - 'Bluto & Daughter' Toy Manufacturers, by Appointment to HM'...

My favourite toys were my Sindy Dolls, and the furniture that my grandad made for them. I also loved my Amanda Jane doll. Not many people I knew had her - but she was really cute.
