The Adoption and Children Bill (which would allow unmarried couples to adopt) is set to return to the House Of Commons after the House Of Lords voted against it by a majority of 196 to 162 votes. MPs are fully expected to overturn the defeat, but face a tight deadline if they are to get the law on the statute books before the Parliament session ends in November.

(incidentally wasn't Anne Widecome her usual 'vile' self, last night on Question time)

What are your thoughts?

I think as long as there are 5000 children who need a loving home that it's ridiculous to say that only married couples can be a good parent!!

And yes she was her usual vile self.

I don't see why it should make a difference really....and I don't understand all this stuff about a single gay person can adopt but not if they have a partner ${ are they supposed to take a vow of celebacy too?
This world needs to accept that gay people are the same as everyone else, apart from their sexual orientation, which has absolutley nothing to do with raising children...it's love and stability that counts.

Well obviously yes HD according to the lovely Anne Widecome you have to have a bit of paper to say you're a good mother... what were you thinking

I even had to have a home visit when I got my cats from the cat protection league but I could get pregnant (not that im intending to AT ALL) have a child and mistreat it for its whole life and no one ever find out, this country sucks!!!!

Unfortunately any asshole can have a child but there are lots of loving people that cant who would make great parents to those children that need a loving home, and wont be allowed cos they dont fit into the "normal" family category!

These kids would get picked on by the himophobic tw@ts that seem ti be getting worse by the day, and it'd be confusing, cos theyd be like "Hey, this is my Dad, and so is this" But i do think that it should go though-Gays, Bi's and Stait People all have a right to kids, and I think that as it becomes more recognised, people will stop giving a damn....

It shouldn't matter what sort of relationship you are in so long as you can give a child a good home.

A local newspaper of mine recently showed a picture of a card that looked very much like a donor card but in actual fact it said on it: In the event of my death I do not wish my children to be adopted by a homosexual. Its attitudes like this and the outdated house of lords that make the adoption of children so difficult when there are plenty of loving homes for them.

The most important thing is this, obvious though it may be: a child is a lifetime commitment.
