Does anyone know anything that can help with sleeping? I've pretty much been crap at sleeping for the last... err... 4ish years, and I have things I take, but theyre not real sleeping pills... they're some sort of antihistimine called Phenargan... no other antihistimes help me, and nor do Nitol (not the herbal ones anyway, but the doctor says I cant have the chemical ones.... but mum finally bought me some, yay) and I cant be given anything proper for sleeping till Im 16 or 18, not sure which one, I stopped asking teh doctor 'cause all they say is warm bath, warm milk, and all that... anywho, do you know anything that can help? I might have asked before on here, but im getting pretty desperate! I might try sleeping just every other night, cos I can go that long without sleep without feeling crap, its juts when i only get 4 hours that I feel worse than I do if I get none!

Thanks... sorry if theres lots of mistakes in there, Im a little bit tired :p

Poor Earz....the one thing I do know is that if you're laying in bed trying to get to sleep and can't then you may aswell get up and watch telly or do something. It's worse to lay there tossing and turning and worrying. Sometimes I try this thing where I have to stare at a spot on the ceiling, right above me or slightly back a bit so I have eyes wide open, and I just stare at it without blinking for as long as I can, and think about good things like what I would do if i won the lottery or was going out with Robbie williams or Peirce Brosnan or something like that, and I feel relaxed and eyes get heavy and just want to close by themselves.......it works sometimes anyway!

Turn the telly off?
Actually go to bed, instead of hanging about...

I can be much the same - often here at the PC until 4am, at which point I make sure I go to bed - that's late enough for anyone!

Have the advantage of working from home/self-employed. Don't have to be up and about until 10am-ish so I usually get at least 5 hours kip, which can often be enough for me.

I hate going to bed early and then lie there for hours, until I get fed up and go to make yet another cuppa, turn the computer on and bore myself silly playing some stupid game or other.

On the other hand, I have gone to bed at 11pm and woke up again at 4am...

Have you tried a relaxation tape?
I wasn't sure when I first tried one, I thought it was a bit hippy-fied to be honest, but they work a treat.
Try your local library, that way you can try one for free and if it doesn't work it's cost you nothing.
Hopefully you'll soon be

Yes, if you can find a good relaxation tape and really try to follow the instructions properly and take it seriously, they do work well. The main thing is to try to empty your mind of everything and don't worry about not sleeping - that's a sure way of not being able to get to sleep! Try to let the mind go completely blank and relax fully. I made a relaxation tape once, but I'm not sure where I put it now, otherwise I would send it to you Earz. Mind you, listening to my voice isn't exactly the best way to get to sleep! ::lol::

Oh Rosemary/Christine why didn't I think of that? I've got a relaxation tape made by a counselling service. If you want it Earz let me know and you can have it.
